SOUTH MOUNTAIN CONCERTS

The Boston Symphony Orchestra has returned home but this venerable chamber music series extends the Berkshires summer classical offerings into October. First up is the veteran Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, presenting music by Beethoven, Previn, and Brahms. Sept. 2, 3 p.m. $35. ‘THE FACE’

Gil Rose leads the first local performances of a new opera by Donald Crockett, set in Venice Beach, Calif.
