In 2001, while The White Stripes and The Strokes were pumping out guitar riffs, The Faint was busy introducing a new generation to the synthesizer. The Omaha group’s darkly danceable third record “Danse Macabre” kicked off a barrage of early-2000s nu-disco, nu-new wave, and dance-punk, clearing a path for acts like The Rapture and LCD Soundsystem. Eleven years later, “Danse Macabre” is getting an impressive reissue on CD and vinyl with plenty of extras.
