Album of the year candidates are all worthy — finally

When the final award of the evening is handed out at the Grammys on Sunday, one thing is certain: Whoever wins for album of the year was at least worthy of the honor.

That hasn’t always been the case when the Recording Academy presents the annual ceremony. It has a dubious history when it comes to celebrating the previous year’s most deserving album. (Christopher Cross’s self-titled debut over Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”? Really? Really.)

"Stan Getz and João Gilberto" absolutely deserved the win that year.  Not only was it a world wide cultural phenomena, but it is an incredible musical experience that plays as well today as it did 50 years ago.  No one can discount how big the Beatles were or how much great music there is even on their early albums, but they still had a ways to go before they would be the artistic equals of the combination of Getz, Gilberto and Jobim.

Who won the battle of the poop?
