Boston Lyric Opera’s 2013-14 season will feature new productions of four operas. Mozart’s “Magic Flute,” Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” and Bellini’s “I Puritani” will each be staged at the Shubert Theatre, and for its annual off-site production, the company will return to the Park Plaza Castle with Jack Beeson’s “Lizzie Borden,” in a new chamber version. These and other details of the company’s new season were scheduled to be announced Thursday night.
“The Magic Flute” (Oct. 4-13), in a new English-language adaptation, will be directed by Leon Major and conducted by BLO music director David Angus, with a cast that includes Zach Borichevsky, Andrew Garland, Deborah Selig, and Emily Hindrichs. “Rigoletto” (March 14-23, 2014) will be directed by Tomer Zvulun, with a cast led by Michael Mayes, Bruce Sledge, and Nadine Sierra.
