Boston Baroque announces 40th season

Boston Baroque will open its 40th anniversary season in the fall with its first traversals of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and will close it next spring with semi-staged performances of Monteverdi’s opera “Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in patria.” These and other details of its upcoming season were announced on Tuesday.

The Monteverdi opera (April 25 and 26, 2014) will be presented in a new performance edition by music director Martin Pearlman. Mark Streshinsky will direct the staging, with a cast that includes Fernando Guimarães, Jennifer Rivera, Leah Wool, Daniel Auchincloss, Abigail Nims, Aaron Sheehan, Daniel Shirley, Marc Molomot, Sara Heaton, and Christopher Lowrey. The performances of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony (Nov. 8 and 9) will feature vocal soloists Leah Partridge, Ann McMahon Quintero, William Burden, and Kevin Deas.
