Timberlake’s ‘Suit & Tie’ retailored

It didn’t take long for an Internet crammed with producers to put the scissors to Justin Timberlake’s new “Suit & Tie.” If the early yield of remixes from this one single is any indication, it’s going to be a while before “The 20/20 Experience” has been squeezed of all its juice. Here are five new cuts of “Suit & Tie,” with very different fits.

“Suit & Tie” (Julio Bashmore remix): Rising UK smooth operator Julio Bashmore stretches and slows a snatch of JT’s verse, resting it over plush organs borrowed from Black Box, a thumping heartbeat pulse, and stately house chords. The remix may have vanished from Bashmore’s page, but you can find uploads on YouTube.

“Suit & Tie” (Four Tet remix): The most intriguing of the crop, Kieran Hebden’s trance-inducingly minimal rework goes the just-Justin route: no bass, no synths, no extraneous anything — just Timberlake’s vocal, sped up and slowed down, braided and layered, warped and worked. A stunningly balanced showcase of Four Tet’s and Timberlake’s respective chops. www.soundcloud.com/four-tet

“Suit & Tie” (Ta-Ku remix): While faithful to the structure of the original, Australian producer Ta-Ku’s makeover subs out the soul for a syrupy electric funk. Keep this one on hand for summer barbecues that creep past sunset. www.sound cloud.com/takugotbeats

“Suit & Tie” (Dillon Francis remix): The Moombahton hero throws the brakes on “Suit and Tie,” giving it a smoldering trap treatment, clipping the holy heck out of JT’s vocals, and stapling them all down with sparse slaps of 808 drum machines. www.sound cloud.com/dillonfrancis

“Suit & Tie” (Aeroplane remix): Swanky, summery, and luxurious, the Italian/Belgian producer Vito Deluca gives the song a fresh Balearic-beat spritz while retaining its soulful vibe (he even hangs on to those foxy little horn stabs). This remix may end up more inescapable than the single itself.www.soundcloud.com/aeroplane
