DJs on the Harbor
At: Institute of Contemporary Art, 100 Northern Ave, Boston. Friday, 7:30 p.m. 21+ Tickets: $10 for members and students, $15 for nonmembers. 617-478-3103, www.icaboston.org
The deal: Prepare for sensory overload: The ICA will be hosting a night of art, dancing, and music in one lovely waterfront setting. Your ticket for the popular “DJs on the Harbor” event includes admission to the museum’s exhibitions, which include Barry McGee (known for works that bring together graffiti, comics, hobo art, and sign painting), Mary Reid Kelley (whose video works are based on history and myths), and the first major museum exhibition of Boston-based artist Steve Locke.
The performers: Le1f, the New York rapper and DJ, (who will only be DJ-ing). Also performing will be guest DJs D’Hana Perry and Blk.Adonis.
Who goes there: Anyone who is interested in gazing at art and dancing the night away. “It’ll be a pretty magical dance party,” said John Andress, public programs manager of the ICA.
Three songs you’ll hear: “Club Rez” (Rizzla’s Club Cecile bootleg) by Girl Unit; “Fallin” (Murlo Remix) by DJ Kent featuring Malehloka; and possibly “Body Party” (Supraman’s Happy Hardcore Candy Rave Remix) by Ciara.
The tip: “They could plan to wear the summer outfit they’ve been waiting to wear all season,” said Andress.
