THE WATERBOYS Mike Scott and his merry band have an appointment with fans to share their new album “An Appointment With Mr. Yeats,” on which Scott “collaborated” with the famed poet by setting his words to music. Expect tunes from it as well as classics from “Fisherman’s Blues” and “This Is the Sea.” Sept. 19, 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $30-$50. Wilbur Theatre. 800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com

THE LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM APPRECIATION SOCIETY Sure, there’s “Night of 1,000 Stevies” to honor Stevie Nicks, but now Fleetwood Mac’s undersung guitarist is getting some props as this group of indie all-stars from bands including Papas Fritas and Danielson perform the album “Tusk” in its entirety, which they’ve dubbed “the most punk rock soft rock album ever.” Bob Pernice of the Pernice Brothers warms things up. Sept. 19, 8:30 p.m. Tickets: $12. Johnny D’s. 617-776-2004, www.ticketweb.com

NELLIE MCKAY Funny, fizzy, and fierce, there’s no one quite like this contemporary songbird with the old school style. The singer-songwriter is coming off a stint clowning around in the award-winning New York show “Old Hats,” so she should be in fine form on material both old and new, including tunes from her last album, “Home Sweet Mobile Home” Sept. 20, 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $25. Regattabar. 617-395-7757, www.regattabarjazz.com
