Seth MacFarlane — creator of the “Family Guy” cartoon and “Ted,” both of which feature spectacularly raunchy humor — can also hold his own singing the Great American Songbook. McFarlane performed with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall on Friday night to open the season, singing tunes from his Grammy-nominated album “No One Ever Tells You.” He will also appear with the orchestra at Tanglewood on July 10.

MacFarlane grew up in Connecticut and is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design.”Family Guy” is set in the fictional town of Quahog, R.I.
