Blue Lagoon: The Awakening Saturday, 8 p.m., Lifetme
Do they keep (essentially) remaking this movie because they can’t get it right? Or does every generation simply deserve a cheesy “two teens marooned on a deserted island figure out at least one fun way to pass the time” movie of its own? Because this is basic cable, the sexual suggestiveness that was so controversial in the Brooke Shields-Christopher Atkins original and its 1991 sequel is considerably less racy, and the characters and actors older. This time out it’s a Habitat for Humanity trip gone awry in Trinidad that strands Dean (Brenton Thwaites) and Emma (Indiana Evans) on a tropical paradise without a lot of clothes or supervision. Keep your eyes peeled for Atkins in a cameo as the kids’ teacher. Pictured: Evans and Thwaites.
Piranhaconda Saturday, 9 p.m., Syfy
Michael Madsen has been in some terrific movies including memorable roles in “Reservoir Dogs”— as the singing ear-chopper Mr. Blonde — and a run on “24.” Saturday he toplines one of Syfy’s increasingly ridiculous and always fun-filled monster movies, this one about a creature that is — you guessed it — half snake, half fish, and all deadly. Stay tuned for the sequel “Anashark!”
Operation Cupcake Saturday, 8 p.m., Hallmark
Mission: Frosting.
The Shawshank Redemption Saturday, 8 p.m., AMC
One of the most compulsively watchable movies of all time. Zihuatanejo.
