TV Land Presents: The AFI Life Achievement Award Honoring
Shirley MacLaine Sunday, 9 p.m., TV Land
When it comes to MacLaine (pictured), the question is, which lifetime? Of course, we kid. The American Film Institute is honoring the actress for her formidable body of work and indelible performances in films like “Sweet Charity,” “The Children’s Hour,” “The Apartment,” “The Turning Point,” “Terms of Endearment,” and “Steel Magnolias.” Among those celebrating Shirley are her brother Warren Beatty and many costars and friends, including Morgan Freeman, Carrie Fisher, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, and Julia Roberts.
The Great Escape Sunday, 10 p.m., TNT
From Ron Howard and Brian Grazer and the producers of “The Amazing Race” comes this new reality competition that aims to bring the action-adventure movie vibe to real life. Each week three pairs of players are plopped into a location from which they must escape. As in “Race,” there will be obstacles that involve either physical strength or problem-solving skills. The added twist comes in the forms of “guards” and “pursuers” who are trying to block their path to freedom and, of course, a big cash prize, which will be doled out by host Rich Eisen (pictured).
