Today 7 a.m., Channel 7
If you’ve enjoyed Ann Curry (pictured with Matt Lauer) as cohost of NBC’s long-running wake-up news and entertainment fest — and the audience is apparently divided — you might want to tune in sooner rather than later. Reports are emerging that the Peacock network is in talks to relieve the longtime employee of her “Today” duties and replace her with the show’s third-hour cohost Savannah Guthrie. If various comment threads are to be believed, viewers are split, with some finding Curry chilly and awkward and others championing her smarts and heart. Either way, the ratings for “Today” have declined since Curry took over for Meredith Vieira last year, and this spring, for the first time since 1995, the show was bested by ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
