THE INCREDIBLE HULK ★★½
(Comcast Movie Collections: Based on Comic Books) When the title monster is not barreling through computer-enhanced Brazilian favelas and destroying most of Harlem in the finale of this flavorless contraption, he’s sleeping deep down inside a lean, not-as-green Edward Norton. In the filmmakers’ bid to make an exciting action movie, they forgot to make an interesting one. With Liv Tyler, William Hurt, Tim Roth, and, best of all, Tim Blake Nelson as a scientist who seems like an actual scientist. (PG-13; runs through Aug. 6)
21 JUMP STREET ★★★½
(Comcast Movie Collections: Just In) We have lots of terminology for what happens when two male stars appear to have the platonic hots for each other. What Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum have in this very funny, unusually perceptive action-comedy scrambles, transcends, and explodes all of that. They play nincompoop narcs undercover at a high school. The movie may not be consciously exploiting the evolution of male buddydom in Hollywood, but it has redrawn the boundaries. (R; runs through Sept. 26)
MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL ★★½
(Comcast Movie Collections: Selected Directors: Clint Eastwood) Clint Eastwood’s film of John Berendt’s bestseller doesn’t come together as a whole, but still has juicy stuff to savor. Savannah eccentrics buzz around the murder trial of an antiques dealer (Kevin Spacey, purring indolently) who shot his bisexual lover. John Cusack is a bright-eyed outsider; Alison Eastwood (Clint’s daughter) needs no nepotism to convince as a sexy love interest; and the film is stolen by the sassy, cross-dressing Lady Chablis, playing herself as only she can. (R; runs through Dec. 31)
