WEDNESDAY NIGHT TELEVISION

Critic’s corner: What’s on TV tonight?

Jason Dufner/National Geographic

Abandoned  9 and 9:30 p.m., National Geographic

In this new series, carpenter Jay Chaikin travels the country looking for decrepit buildings to rehab and sell for lots and lots o’ money. He and his team also find valuables buried deep in the basements and attics they work on. I’m assuming they have better luck finding valuables than TV viewers do in late August.

Warner Home Video

The Exorcist  8 p.m., IFC

Darn you, Pazuzu, pushy super-mega-demon and gourmet chef specializing in pea soup. You still scare the bejesus out of me. Tonight, IFC is airing “The Exorcist,” which will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year. The horror classic was recently adapted into a theatrical production starring Brooke Shields and Richard Chamberlain. I wish it had been a musical, and Regan had had a blue dress on. Pictured (from left): Linda Blair as Regan, Max Von Sydow as Father Merrin, and Jason Miller as Father Damien Karras.

I Melt With You  9:25 p.m., Showtime 2

Formerly “Don’t Trust the W---- in Apartment 23.”

Life With Mikey  8 p.m., FLIX

He hates everything.

Groundhog Day  8 p.m., AMC

It’s loopy.
