Here Comes Honey Boo Boo 10 p.m., TLC
Shirley Temple gone very wrong, that’s our Honey Boo Boo. And I say “our” because America is embracing the 6-year-old reality star and her hillbilly family with pretty solid ratings for TLC. I find it really hard to watch this show. Honey Boo Boo is pretty annoying, and yet she’s a child who is being exploited by all the adults around her. It’s not fun feeling both grossed out by and sorry for a little girl. And her family — they’re trying so hard to be “characters.”
The Exes 10:30 p.m., TV Land
For years, before it lost its spark, “Scrubs” was among TV’s best sitcoms. I loved every member of the ensemble, the writing and filming were top-notch, and the “guy love” between Donald Faison’s Turk and Zach Braff’s J.D. was fresh because it wasn’t a standard bro relationship. Tonight, Braff comes to visit Faison at his sitcom, “The Exes,” to form a “Scrubs” reunion-ette. It’s enough to get me to jump to TV Land for a half-hour. Pictured: Kristen Johnson and Faison.
