Critic’s corner: What’s on TV tonight for Oct. 3

VH1 Couples Therapy 10 p.m., VH1

I know that when you read “From the makers of ‘Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew’ ” you will instantly decide to watch this reality drama. But let me add to your motivation by telling you that this season’s celebrity couples include Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen from “The Real Housewives of New York” and “Bachelor” star Shayne Lamas and her husband, Nik Richie. And I’ll sweeten the pot even more: Doug Hutchison and Courtney Stodden (above) will also process their relationship before all the world.

Presidential Debate 9 p.m.

The Romney campaign must have been paying attention to Simon Cowell. Reportedly, their goal in this first debate is for Mitt Romney to create “moments” onstage when he debates President Obama. On “American Idol,” Cowell was obsessed with getting the performers to create “moments.” Wednesday’s theme is domestic policy, the host is Jim Lehrer (above), and the location is the University of Denver. It will air all over the figurative dial.
