30 Rock 8 p.m., Channel 7
The final season of one of my favorite comedies begins tonight. Yes, sometimes this show is too silly, and the characters can be redundant, as they become on most network sitcoms. But “30 Rock” nonetheless rates with TV’s best media satires, including “The Larry Sanders Show.” Every week, Tina Fey & Co. make fun of TV, actors, media companies, clueless TV executives, product placement, and reality shows. And it’s all done with a meta sensibility that makes it a product of our time, one that will be telling in 20 or 30 years. Tonight, for example, the “TGS” staff are shocked by NBC’s awful fall lineup. Pictured: Fey and Alec Baldwin.
Jersey Shore 10 p.m., MTV
Will the pregnant Snooki and the post-rehab Situation become sober buddies? I could care less. But it’s the final season of the show, so here’s my official notice. Of course, all the “characters” will still be out there after the end, on spinoff shows and, inevitably, rehab series. So don’t be sad, fans.
