Critic’s corner: What’s on TV tonight

Peter “Hopper” Stone/ABC

Modern Family 9 and 9:30 p.m., Channel 5

Law & Order: SVU 9 p.m., Channel 7

A talk-show host sexually assaults an S&M author who has a dark secret in her past.
