Critic’s corner: What’s on TV tonight

American Horror Story: Asylum 10 p.m., FX

The flashy series — excuse me, miniseries — returns for season two tonight. This time, the thrills are set in Briarcliff Manor, the largest tuberculosis ward on the East Coast, where 46,000 people died. Yeah, that’s a lot of ghosts. The Catholic Church bought Briarcliff in the 1960s and turned it into an insane asylum. Adam Levine, Jessica Lange (pictured), Chloe Sevigny, Joseph Fiennes, and Ian McShane are among the stars this season. Plus: Best. Typeface. Ever.

My Life Is a Lifetime Movie 10 p.m., Lifetime

My life is probably more of an NBC sitcom. You? Hope it’s not TLC-ish. The women featured on this new seven-part reality show have been in peril, like the heroines of countless Lifetime movies. One is a teacher (pictured) wrongly accused of sexual misconduct with a student, another is a divorced mom who finds out her boyfriend is a Cuban spy. Whoops.
