Homeland 8 p.m., Showtime
The plot turns of the last two weeks have been at the same level of intensity as Deb finding out about her brother on “Dexter” and Skyler finding out about Walt on “Breaking Bad.” (Obviously, don’t read this if you haven’t seen the episodes.) Everything is different now. “Homeland” went there and then some, as Carrie and the CIA got proof against Brody and captured him. In this week’s hour, there are one or two missteps, including a “24”-ish moment with a knife and a feeble “bad cop” rationale. But otherwise the episode is a knockout, with crazy good acting as usual by Claire Danes and Damian Lewis (above) in their long interrogation scene. Their eye contact is wild.
Pumpkin Wars 9 p.m., HGTV
There’s a whole lot at stake in this contest. A lot. Which American city can do the most with pumpkins, knives, and candles – Highwood, Ill., or Keene, N.H.? Which of them will set a new Guinness world record? I, for one, cannot wait to find out. Twin brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott of “Property Brothers” (above) are the hosts.
