(HBO on Comcast) It’s amazing how much life Britain’s Aardman animation gang can breathe into a load of clay, sculpted into a flock of chickens, led by a plucky pullet and a randy Yank rooster, looking for a great escape from a podgy, retro British farm about to be turned into a concentration camp for chickens. UNIVERSAL SOLDIER ½

(Comcast Movie Collections: Just In) Jean-Claude Van Damme is a “UniSol,” freeze-dried in Vietnam and now brought back to life to complete paramilitary missions requiring superhuman skills. Thanks to Ally Walker, Van Damme moves into the human-potential movement, which leads to sly, unexpected comedy. But Dolph Lundgren stands in the way, and that leads to the explosive action that Van Damme’s fans demand. (R; runs through Nov. 29)

(Encore on Comcast) “Love Story” set in a diner in Minneapolis. But its romantic corn is made appealing by terrific performances from lionhearted romantic Marisa Tomei, nature boy Christian Slater, and, as comic relief, sidekick Rozie Perez. It’s a date movie that delivers. (PG-13; runs through Jan. 17)
