Soul Train Awards ’12

8 p.m., BET

The supremely funky Don Cornelius, creator and host of “Soul Train,” may have gone on to that great Soul Train line in the sky, but this year’s ceremony honors his contribution to pop culture. Additionally, Boston’s own New Edition receive the lifetime achievement award. Comic Cedric the Entertainer (pictured) emcees and musical peformances come from, among others, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Charlie Wilson, Eddie Levert, Anthony Hamilton, and Fantasia.

Downton Abbey Revisited
8 p.m., Channel 2

Angela Lansbury leads viewers through a recap of the first two seasons of this soapy and veddy addictive British period drama as a way to whet appetites for season 3, already airing in the United Kingdom. Creators Sir Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame discuss their inspirations, the cast reminisce about favorite moments from the first two seasons, and we get a sneak peek behind the scenes of the famous homestead.
