Oliver Stone tackles modern US history in new series

NEW YORK — Oliver Stone has never been shy about ruffling feathers with his take on real-life events.

From ‘‘J.F.K.’’ and ‘‘Nixon’’ to ‘‘Salvador’’ and ‘‘W,’’ Stone has challenged the history taught in schoolbooks. His latest project, ‘‘The Untold History of the United States,’’ a 10-part series now underway on the premium Showtime network, explores more facts he believes were suppressed, with new takes on the atomic bombing of Japan, the Cold War, and the fall of communism.

Well done series! What if Wallace received the VP nomination instead of Truman? I contend that there would have been no Korea, certainly no Vietnam, and Anglo-imperialsim would have been dealt a swaggering blow. After WWII the allies (most notably Great Britain) cut up Africa into neatly shaped boxes on the map. These "men around the map cake" paid no attention to tribal boundaries, rivalries, and sovereignties. Next, the Middle East was carved up along OIL PIPELINES, resulting in the same chaos we are living with today. Indochina was given to France, a position that Roosevelt and Wallace explicitly opposed. The idea behind these power grabs was to increase revenue for the war torn allied nations. This policy was very short sighted, and now we have lived with 77 years of warfare.
