Critic’s corner: What’s on TV tonight

TLC’s Cheer Perfection.

Tim Yoder/TLC

TLC’s Cheer Perfection.

Cheer Perfection 10 p.m., TLC

The makers of “Toddlers & Tiaras” and “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” have more tricks up their sleeves. (By the way, “tricks” is my code word for repulsive entertainment.) This new series follows an Arkansas youth cheerleading team as they are bullied and manipulated by their competitive coach and their competitive moms. (And by “competitive,” I mean self-serving and pathetic.) In the premiere, we get to hear the coach yelling, “If you fall again, I’m going to replace you.” (And by “we,” I mean anyone but me.)

A Home for the Holidays With Rascal Flatts 8 p.m., Channel 4

This annual special to honor adoption and foster care is probably going to be less mean-spirited than the TLC fare. Melissa Etheridge, Matchbox Twenty, and Phillip Phillips will perform along with Rascal Flatts. “The X Factor” finalist Rachel Crow will also perform and tell her personal story about having been in three different foster care homes until she was adopted. Also on hand: Wayne Brady, Kevin Frazier, and Jillian Michaels.

Homeland 7:50 p.m., Showtime

“Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”

Flying Reindeer 10 p.m., National Geographic Wild

“The Wizard of Claus.”

Bridezillas: Bigest Bridezillas Meltdowns 8 p.m., WE

“Get Me to the Church on Time, Dingdong.”
