Jersey Shore 10 p.m., MTV

Please sit down. This will come as very sad news. Thursday night, “Jersey Shore” is ending its six-season run. The show peaked with about 9 million viewers, which is a lot bigger than the audiences for “Mad Men” or “Homeland.” Oh sure, Snooki (left) and her pals will continue to appear all over cable TV, or you may run into them at the tanning salon; but their group adventure is over. Don’t fret, though. Civilization-ending programming will continue, from the Kardashians and from TLC, which brings us “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” and “Toddlers & Tiaras.”
