Edge of America  9 and 9:30 p.m., Travel Channel

Sometimes it’s strange to watch people you know on TV shows. They don’t seem quite themselves. But that is definitely Globe arts reporter Geoff Edgers you’ll see on his new Travel Channel series, just as it was him in his documentary about reuniting the Kinks, “Do It Again.” Edgers brings his wry, somewhat deadpan sensibility to a weekly tour of the non-guidebook activities across America. He hawks maple-bacon donuts in Portland, Ore., eats a beating rattlesnake heart, and slices and fries a calf testicle in Oklahoma. His take on the latter: “I just wish it didn’t have to be so ball-like.”
