On Demand movie highlights

(HBO on Comcast) George Clooney mopes through Italy as an assassin with a butterfly tattoo. Given the paucity of serious adult moviemaking that makes it into American megaplexes, it’s almost ungrateful to turn up your nose when one arrives. But this isn’t that serious a movie. Every time Clooney shares a scene with a female, it’s not the prospect of intercourse or gunfights you fear. It’s photo shoots. (R; runs through March 12)

Wesley Morris

(Showtime on Comcast) In this “Home Alone” knockoff, an overlooked boy stumbles onto a million bucks, buys himself a castle, and fills it with high-tech toys. Laden with product placement, it is a celebration of materialism, with an unfelt moral tacked onto the end. (PG; runs through March 5)

(HBO on Comcast) This baseball comedy about a Cleveland Indians team of misfits that gets it together leads no league in originality. Yet it does its job well enough, and features likable performances by Tom Berenger and Charlie Sheen in the roles of veteran catcher and rookie pitcher. (R; runs through March 12)
