Critic’s corner: What’s on TV tonight

Film Independent Spirit Awards 10 p.m., IFC

Andy Samberg hosts the indie Oscars ceremony this year, although his movie, the nicely done “Celeste and Jesse Forever,” only got one nod, for best first screenplay. “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Moonrise Kingdom” lead the nominations with five each, but many of the other nominees — “Keep the Lights On,” “Safety Not Guaranteed,” “Middle of Nowhere” — are less known. Happily, Matthew McConaughey (above) has two nominations, for best male lead (“Killer Joe”) and best supporting male (“Magic Mike”). Legitimacy restored?

End of the World 9 p.m., Syfy

Why bother with creative titles when you can just cut to the chase? In this Syfy original, a couple of sci-fi geeks hold the future of the planet in their hands. On his Twitter feed, star Greg Grunberg (above) calls the movie “funny” and “crazy,” which is what we all hope for when we watch Syfy on Saturday nights. “The heliosphere is collapsing,” Brad Dourif screams in the preview clip.
