85th Academy Awards 2013 8:30 p.m., Channel 5

Seth MacFarlane (above) is not only the host of the Oscars, he’s also a nominee. We were there on the day of the announcements and the Fox animation king (“Family Guy,” “The Cleveland Show,” and “American Dad!”) was excited that “Everybody Needs a Best Friend,” the Norah Jones sung tune he copenned for his feature film directorial debut “Ted,” got a nod. Fun fact: He co-wrote it with composer Walter Murphy, who had a number one disco hit in the ’70s with “A Fifth of Beethoven.” (With Adele in the category though, their chances seem pretty slim.) MacFarlane said he understood the pressure and knew it was impossible to please everyone. “You go into it knowing that even if you put on the greatest show in the world you’re probably going to be lambasted in the press, so you might as well enjoy yourself and do the best you can. I’m just worrying about making it as funny and fun as it can be”
