THE TRIP ½

(Comcast Free Movies) A blissfully funny fake documentary in which actor-friends Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon bicker their way through the great restaurants of England’s Lake District, pausing for competitive celebrity impressions and the occasional seduction. Imagine a fusion of ‘‘Sideways’’ and a Hope-Crosby ‘‘road’’ movie, or ‘‘My Dinner With Andre’’ repurposed as a movable feast. Michael Winterbottom directs. (Unrated; runs through April 17)

BABE

(Comcast Free Movies) A topnotch children’s movie leavened by more than just the special effects that make it possible for barnyard animals to chat with each other. It tells a sweet yet not quite saccharine story about a guileless piglet who is determined to herd sheep along with his adopted family of border collies. In the process, Babe the pig proves that personality is more important than species, and that niceness begets results. (G; runs through May 30)

THE RIVER’S EDGE

(Comcast Free Movies) Director Tim Hunter’s disturbing look at a teenage subculture resonates with realistic moral ambiguity. The murder of a teenager in it is both violent and perplexing, yet it also raises serious questions when it could just provide pat answers. (R; runs through June 20)
