Critic’s Corner: What’s on TV Sunday

Universal Pictures

2013 MTV Movie Awards
9 p.m., MTV

Who will take home the prize for best shirtless performance or best WTF performance? This irreverent kudocast, which pays tribute to popular flicks, features both of those categories and others like best kiss and best villain. We’re betting that Seth MacFarlane’s made-in-Boston comedy “Ted” will pick up at least a few golden tubs of popcorn, perhaps for the titular teddy bear and his “thunder buddy” Mark Wahlberg (above) as best on-screen duo. “Pitch Perfect” fans will be happy to hear that show host Rebel Wilson will be reuniting with her film’s costars to give their first live performance of an all new a cappella mash-up.

Veep 10 p.m., HBO

Starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a hapless vice president of an unidentified party, this series was a dependable source of belly laughs in its first season. At once acidic and frothy, dark and silly, it features writers and actors who perfectly capture the mundane absurdities of political life.
