MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION

(STARZ on Comcast) The forces of good and evil do battle for world domination in this plot- impaired martial-arts smack ’em up. (PG-13; runs through May 16)

MIRACLE ½

(STARZ on Comcast) The title and the Disney pedigree give away everything about this rousing but simple flag-waver, which stars a finely stoic Kurt Russell. The time is 1980. The place is the Lake Placid Olympics. The game is hockey. The opponent is anything Eastern bloc. And the movie is shameless. (PG-13; runs through May 31)

MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA ½

(STARZ on Comcast) Arthur Golden’s best-selling novel has been brought to the screen with opulent attention to detail, but the film remains faux-Oriental chic. Ziyi Zhang plays a rising geisha star in pre-war Japan, Gong Li and Michelle Yeoh are her nemesis and mentor, respectively, and Ken Watanabe the distant object of her affection. The English-language dialogue forces the talented cast into pidgin incomprehensibility. (PG-13; runs through June 20)
