Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Monday night

Jeremy Freeman

Deon Cole’s Black Box 10:30 p.m., TBS

Chicago-bred comedian Cole (pictured) is an Emmy-nominated writer for the Conan O’Brien show. When he came to the boss with an idea for his own series, commenting on trending pop culture stories from around the Web and the news, O’Brien liked it so much he decided to launch the series under the Team Coco banner. Cole brings a good balance to his snark. He can dance up to the edge when joking about social issues but generally keeps the proceedings affable as he guides us through the absurdity of tabloid tales, viral videos, and nonsensical news.
