Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Wednesday

Ray Donovan 8 p.m., Showtime

Jon Voight walks away with this new series as the thug father from hell, who has come to Los Angeles from jail in Walpole to stir up trouble with his three sons. Before getting on the plane, though, he kills a Boston priest. And on the plane — I loved this slimeball moment — he winks lustily at a woman breast-feeding her baby. Voight’s character is from Southie, and he pulls off the accent nicely by underplaying it. Showtime is reairing “Ray Donovan” a lot this week, hoping to draw in viewers for a heated-up summer ride.
