Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Monday night

Cliff Lipson/CBS

We Are Men 8:30 p.m., CBS

They are more like manchildren than men as a quartet of single friends at varying stages of romantic life try to figure out women and feelings and things. The recently dumped-at-the-altar Carter (Chris Smith) becomes buddies with three divorced dudes in his apartment complex, including glum Gil (Kal Penn), aging lothario Frank (Tony Shalhoub), and Speedo-sporting Stuart (Jerry O’Connell). Everybody here — particularly Shalhoub — deserves better and laughs are skimpier than O’Connell’s banana hammock.

iHeart Radio Music Festival 2013 8 p.m., the CW

This is the first of a two-night special devoted to the top 40 fest held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas recently. The two nights will include performances from Katy Perry, Drake, Elton John, Muse, Tiesto, Chris Brown, Keith Urban, Fun., Miguel, Bruno Mars, Phoenix, Maroon 5, Tim McGraw, Ke$ha, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Paul McCartney, and man of the moment Justin Timberlake.
