Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Tuesday night

War of the Worlds 9 p.m., Channel 2

This episode of “American Experience” revisits the Oct. 30, 1938,
radio broadcast of H.G. Wells’s “War of the Worlds” by Orson Welles. The documentary includes interviews with Welles’s eldest daughter, Chris Welles Feder, and Peter Bogdanovich, as well as dramatizations of letters sent to Welles (pictured) after the broadcast. Some listeners reportedly believed the account of a Martian invasion. Maybe the contemporary parallel is Jimmy Kimmel’s fake twerking video?
