Tales From the Organ Trade 9 p.m., HBO

Narrated by David Cronenberg, the 83-minute film has a global scale, following patients and parts from Manila to Istanbul to Colorado and beyond. “Tales” covers everything from the street-level solicitors for kidney donors, to the rogue surgeons who perform the operations, to the impoverished donors who sacrifice their organs for a quick payday, to the desperate patients wrestling with obeying the law or saving their lives.

Melissa McCarthy returns to the tube after spending her summer on the big screen bringing “The Heat” with Sandra Bullock and nursing “The Hangover III.” Apparently, Molly has decided that she wants to chuck her career as an elementary school teacher and become a writer. Specifically, she wants to be a crime novelist, so having a cop as a husband should come in handy for research purposes.
