Nova: Cold Case JFK 9 p.m., Channel 2

The cavalcade of JFK-related programming rolls on toward the 50th anniversary of the assassination. This edition of “Nova” asks “could modern investigators do better” with regards to handling the crime? New scientific and technological crime-solving methods — including laser scanning, ballistics tests, and a 3-D digital reconstruction of the president’s skull — are applied to the case, and questions about the various conspiracies theories surrounding it are examined.

JFK: One PM Central Standard Time 10 p.m., Channel 2

In this “Secrets of the Dead” special, George Clooney appears in and narrates a minute-by-minute look at the reporting from Dallas and the CBS newsroom in New York from the moment President Kennedy was shot until Walter Cronkite’s pronouncement of his death. The show includes interviews with reporters, writers, and producers who were there in Dallas and New York, as well as with former President Bill Clinton and NBC News anchor Brian Williams. It also has rarely seen archival footage of Kennedy and Cronkite.
