Holiday Affair 8 p.m., TCM
As someone who actually enjoys wrapping presents, spends hours baking cookies, and counts “A Partridge Family Christmas Card” as one of his favorite albums of all time, I purr like a kitten when I watch classic holiday films. A few years ago, I stumbled upon a charmer from 1949 called “Holiday Affair” with Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh. This tasty little truffle is as frothy as the foam on top of my strongly spiked eggnog (more rum, s’il vous plait), but better than any of the modern dreck you’ll find on the Hallmark Channel or Lifetime.
How Sherlock Changed the World 9 p.m., PBS
I don’t need a two-hour documentary to tell me how Sherlock changed the world, thank you very much. I can sum it up in a single name — Benedict Cumberbatch. Did you people see his photo spread in January’s British GQ? Not that I went out of my way to track it down or anything. Wait, what’s this about again? Oh, right, “How Sherlock Changed the World.” Perhaps he changed the world by making pipe smoking trendy and magnifying glasses a must-have accessory?
The Polar Express 9 p.m., ABC Family
The creepiest, most nightmare-inducing Christmas cartoon ever.
Person of Interest 10 p.m. CBS
Wake me up when it finally gets interesting.
Real Husbands of Hollywood 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., BET
Double your pleasure with two episodes.
