Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Tuesday night

Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe 8 p.m., ABC

This hourlong special takes fans into the Marvel universe with a primer on the inception of Marvel Studios and a look at its films, including the “Avengers” and “Iron Man” film and TV franchises. The special includes interviews with many of the stars as well as behind-the-scenes footage. There will also be sneak peeks at upcoming theatrical releases “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Guardians of The Galaxy,” and “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

Growing Up Fisher 9:30 p.m., NBC

This new series, about the trials and tribulations of a young man as he navigates both his parents’ impending divorce and his father’s blindness, was created by Boston-area native DJ Nash. Speaking to reporters recently at the Television Critics Association press tour, Nash talked about telling the story as a comedy versus a drama, given the inherent gravity of the tale. “At the time, I would have changed just about anything and everything that was happening. But looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. All of these experiences have prepared me for my own life as a father. For me, I laugh when I think of when my dad was cutting down a tree with a chain saw. That happened, and it’s really funny, and I think the distance of telling it as a flashback lets us laugh.”
