High School Quiz Show: Baseball Edition Saturday 6 p.m., Channel 2

This special edition of the WGBH competition pitting local high schools against each other in a showdown of smarts has a Red Sox theme. The two teams will be composed of students nominated by their schools for their “knowledge about America’s favorite pastime and understanding of its application to subjects such as history, literature, science, and math.” The American League team will be “managed” by NESN play-by-play man Don Orsillo, while ESPN Boston’s Gordon Edes will oversee the National League. Actual Red Sox manager John Farrell will pop up in video highlights, as will Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks and pitcher Craig Breslow.

Saturday Night Live Saturday, 11:30 p.m., NBC

“Pitch Perfect” star and “Up in the Air” Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick handles the hosting duties, and we’re guessing she’ll manage to work a few bars of “Cups” somewhere into the evening. Perhaps noted hat fan and musical guest Pharrell Williams would be, um, happy to lend a hand?
