It’s hard to believe that, at this point, anyone succumbs to fake pleas online. That’s one good thing about “Catfish: The TV Show”; it’s a weekly viewer reminder not to trust what you see on Facebook and other social media. In that world, it can be a slippery slope for some people from pride and/or shame to bragging to out-and-out fabrication. Another good thing about this series, which returns on Wednesday for a third season: It can be moving, as cyber romances become real, for good and for ill. In the premiere, a hacker exploits her online beau.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation 10 p.m., CBS

It’s the season 14 finale, which is significant because it is Paul Guilfoyle’s last episode. Guilfoyle, who plays Captain Jim Brass (pictured), has been with the show since the start, bringing an appealing old-school detective vibe to complement all the high-tech forensic bluster. The episode description has Brass “faced with a life-altering decision when his daughter attempts suicide,” and when a TV character faces a life-altering decision, that usually means buh-bye.
