Critic’s Corner: What’s on TV Tuesday night

I Am Steve McQueen 9 p.m., Spike

“The Great Escape.” “The Magnificent Seven.” “Bullitt.” “Papillon.” “The Thomas Crown Affair.” Who was cooler than Steve McQueen? We even totally loved “The Towering Inferno.” This retrospective on the manly-man channel examines McQueen’s life and career through archival footage, movie clips, and interviews. Among those reminiscing about the “King of Cool” are his son, Chad (“Karate Kid”), and grandson Steven of “The Vampire Diaries,” as well as Gary Oldman, Pierce Brosnan, and ex-wife Ali MacGraw. Robert Downey Jr. handles the narration.

Sullivan & Son 9 p.m., TBS

This biracial family sitcom has been a quiet success for TBS. Executive-produced by actor Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley (“A Christmas Story”) and starring co-creator-and-comic Steve Byrne as Steve Sullivan, the son of an Irish-American father (Dan Lauria, “The Wonder Years”) and Korean mother (Jodi Long, “Sex and the City”), the series chronicles Byrne’s character taking over his parents’ bar, where everybody knows everybody’s name.
