“I have had the best of them all,” says Chita Rivera, whose stage career reads like a history of Broadway. “I came around at a phenomenal time when the theater was full of brilliant, original musicals with great, great choreographers and great librettists. It was when the sets, the costumes, the lights, the choreography, the book, and the score all meshed together and made one brilliant piece. I think we’re missing that nowadays.”
