Saliva flows, mud thrown in ‘Pretty Ugly’
Saliva plays a dominant role in “Pretty Ugly: Deviant Materialism,” now up at the Boston Center for the Arts Mills Gallery. Three of the eight artists make mouth-watering work. Then there’s a piece made of chocolate that is quite the opposite. And “Provincetown Views,” an exhibition of art depicting the artists’ colony and a celebration of the Fine Arts Work Center there, is hung salon-style at ACME Fine Art, and it packs a wallop.
