I would be surprised if this writer saw the same show I saw featuring an incredibly wonderful and highly intelligent interpretation of the famous and infamous Roxie Hart. I also remember reading where Anne Reinking herself gave Christie's Roxie accolades and I couldn't agree more and I guess the audiences agree based on the standing ovations. This entire cast is fantastic and there is a reason the show has beenrunning for so long - it is smart, funny, sexy and fun - all traits possessed by Christie's performance too!
Reinking isn't going to trash Christie. It simply isn't done. Also, the better the show does, the better Reinking does as its choreographer.
And get real...everything gets a standing ovation, and as a seasoned theatregoer, I can safely and plainly say that most times it's not deserved. NEVER judge a show highly because it gets an ovation.
