Visitors to the Museum of Fine Arts this holiday season won’t find the museum’s most famous Renoir, “Dance at Bougival.” Nor will they be able to see any of its five paintings by Cezanne, or five of its six great paintings by Edouard Manet. Some of these works have been lent to scholarly museum shows. However, eager to raise revenues, the MFA is also renting out many of its most prized works for large, undisclosed fees.
