WENDY WHELAN  After more than 25 years with New York City Ballet, the stunning prima ballerina channels her “restless” artistry into a suite of world premiere contemporary duets called “Restless Creature,” created and danced in collaboration with four dynamite choreographers — Kyle Abraham, Joshua Beamish, Brian Brooks, and Alejandro Cerrudo. LA OTRA ORILLA (pictured)  The Montreal-based company (it means “the other shore”) founded by flamenco dancer Myriam Allard and singer Hedi “el Moro” Graja is known for infusing flamenco dance with a contemporary sensibility and enriching it with provocative stagecraft, video and, of course, live music. DOUG ELKINS CHOREOGRAPHY, ETC.  Shakespeare meets Motown? The wildly imaginative creator of “Fräulein Maria” and his talented crew perform “Mo(or)town/Redux,” inspired by Limon’s seminal “The Moor’s Pavane,” and share an early glimpse of their latest endeavor, “Hapless Bizarre.” Aug. 15 and 17. $25; $15 seniors, students, and military. 24-HOUR CHOREOFEST  Six companies (Monkeyhouse, Ryan P. Casey, Paradise Lost, Intimations Dance, Impact Dance Company, and sponsor Luminarium Dance Company) hole up for the night in the Dance Complex, and each comes up with a new work based on a theme drawn from a hat.
