“Sophie Calle: Last Seen” revisits the 1990 Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum theft, which claimed 13 works worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The exhibit commemorates the works through interviews with museum staffers and visitors as well as large, glossy photographs showing the spaces where they hung.
The show is also a homecoming for an exhibit created in Boston but never shown here before.
The exhibition has generated buzz within the art world and already been highlighted in the Washington Post and New York Times as one of the fall’s notable shows.
