Mass. foreclosures slow

But process called growing problem

Foreclosure activity dropped off in Massachusetts last month, but housing specialists don’t believe the home-taking crisis will be over any time soon. In September, 737homeowners lost their properties - a 17 percent decrease from the same period last year and 21.4 percent fewer than in August, according to the Warren Group, a Boston company that tracks local real estate. Between January and September, 6,204 homeowners had their homes seized by lenders, representing a 42 percent decline from the same time last year.
